Last Update of the Year!

The next couple days are focused on finishing and presenting our Genius Hour projects (Thursday afternoon), Art projects (Friday afternoon), finishing up our final blog posts, math lessons, and completing any missing assignments.

If your child will not be here on the last day of school please let me know so that we can make arrangements for an early locker clean up. Please see the last newsletter for making arrangements for report cards to be sent home (as they cannot be sent home early).

The following letter regarding year end activities is going home today with students:

Dear Parents,

The year is quickly coming to an end! I am sending a short note about our planned year-end activities for our class:

On Monday, June 27th, I would like to take the class on a “slurpee run.” The plan is to walk to Co-op gas station around 2pm and treat the class to a slurpee (1/student). The cost will come out of my classroom budget (no cost to students).  I would ask that students not bring extra money for other snacks.

On Tuesday, June 28th we will celebrate the last day of classes with ordering pizza for lunch (approx. 2 slices/student). Again, the cost will be covered by my classroom budget (no cost to students). We will finish the day by watching a movie in the School Theatre with all of the grade 6 classes. No food will be allowed in the theatre.

Our classroom clean up and sending home of school materials will be divided into 3 days to allow students the space in their backpacks and not to overload them with stuff on the last day.  I strongly suggest students have a second plastic or canvas bag to help them carry everything home. Students will need their pencils/pens and colouring materials until the last day of class:

Friday, June 24– students take home projects, binders, gym clothes

Monday, June 27– Students take home all locker contents (except pencils, pens, colouring materials)

Tuesday, June 28– Students take home remaining locker materials, portfolios, and report cards.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

On a final note, I would like to thank-you for your support during this school year. I wish you and your family a safe and relaxing summer holiday.
