Weekly Update: Feb. 26

Good evening! Here’s what’s happening in 7Korver this week:

  • ELA- We are finishing up some final activities with The Breadwinner read aloud. Our focus right now is to hone in and focus on our reading comprehension skills (making connections, asking questions, inferring, summarizing, and making predictions)– this is practiced in just right books and our soon to be determined book club books.
  • Math- We are starting on our statistics unit. For the month of March, Miss Collins, our student teacher, will be teaching pie charts on Tuesday and Wednesdays. I will be covering the rest of the unit (mean, median, mode and probability) on Mondays, Thursdays, and Friday’s.

Upcoming dates:

  • March 12- No school. Prep day for teachers.
  • March 16- Ms Korver away for SPDU work.
  • March 19- Progress reports sent out.
  • March 21 and 22- Student Led Conferences
  • March 28- Ms. KOrver away for SPDU work
  • April 29-  April 6Easter vacation!

Have a great week!

I hope everyone was able to stay warm yesterday! Here’s what’s happening this week in 7Korver:

  • ELA- We are continuing to read The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis. As we read, we are focusing on comprehension skills: visualizing, connecting, and asking questions. This will lead into independent book club books.
  • Math- We will be finishing up our graphing and relations unit. After the break we are moving on to shape and space unit. Miss Collins, our student teacher will be starting to teach math on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s.

Have a great February break next week!
